Welcome to Batiqua - a home decor brand that provides direct-to-market opportunities for the artisans we support while delivering the best quality handmade textiles to our customers. We are a local company with a global reach, thanks to the support of our amazing customers. Our products have found homes in countries like Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, South Africa, Tanzania, and Kenya. We can't wait to see what other countries and homes will embrace our beautiful textiles as we continue to grow our passion for home decor.
Our products are all handmade in Zimbabwe by a team of 18 talented artisans. We invite you to meet our artisans through our "artisan" tab to learn more about each incredible member of our team. To create these textiles, our artisans use the Zimbabwean Batik technique, an indigenous method that utilizes sadza, a porridge made from cooked cornmeal. The porridge is painted onto handmade bark weave fabric to create the design. Once hardened, the paint cracks, allowing the colors to penetrate deep into the fabric, transforming this art into the beautiful textiles that Batiqua sells.
At Batiqua, we believe in fair trade, eco-friendly practices, and socially impactful business. Our products are ethically sourced, and we empower our artisans with sustainable employment opportunities. Our five core values are fair trade, eco-friendliness, social impact, ethical sourcing, and artisan empowerment.
We are a relational, not transactional company. Our mission is to provide beautiful, unique, and quality textiles while empowering marginalized artisans in Zimbabwe with sustainable employment opportunities. We take pride in our products and invite you to join us in supporting our cause.
